Meet your friendly guide outside Fort Jesus and start by visiting a local man who started making coffee as a living 20+ years ago and now serves Swahili coffee to locals overlooking Mombasa Creek. Enjoy sipping on coffee with the sea breeze among the Swahili after-work buzz.
You’ll then proceed to try the famous bite size snacks made my a lovely lady who will share her story of how she started this small business and how to make the snacks, while sipping on sugarcane juice.
Snack on the variety of snacks, full of different flavours.
Finally head to Mama Ngina drive, the ultimate Mombasa hangout spot for coconut water and snacks while overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Carry some cash in Shillings or Mpesa on your phone and you can get as much extra as you’d like!
We suggest doing the tour between 4-6pm, as the sun is a bit cooler and more street food vendors are open.
We did the Mombasa food tour and it was incredible. Such an amazing intro to Mombasa, delicious food, and Qamili was a wonderful tour guide. We felt like we were walking around with a very knowledgable friend. Would 100% recommend.
This is a truly wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to everyone. All the food was incredibly well made with delicious flavours and, most importantly, with love. The tour took us on a whistle-stop tour of the best street food spot in Mombasa. We went on the tour with Qamili who helped us before we even got there by arranging a good value ride to the first location. She was lovely and so knowledgeable about the city and had great relationships with each of the vendors. Special shout out to Adele’s amazing Eritrean coffee experience in an area called Lighthouse, meeting her and the beautiful setting was the highlight of the tour for me (dare I say my whole trip!). Shammi was also so helpful organising this for us on such short notice (1 day!) – incredible hosts 🙂
If you’re looking for a nice tour of the old city, perspectives from a local resident and a variety of tasty things you may be too uncomfortable to order yourself, this tour is for you. Our guide Qamili was very friendly and forthcoming. We enjoyed our tour. You will also have a better understanding of where the good restaurants are and what things to try when you go out on your own.
Had an amazing Mombasa food tour with Qamili. She’s a super nice and friendly person. We’ve had several stops to experience the local food and not only was the food very delicious there were also some really nice views she showed me. The tour was organized late afternoon which I think was a very good decision considering the hot temperatures in Mombasa. The tour takes around 2 hours /2,5 hours so there’s no need to rush. I’ve enjoyed it so much and would definitely recommend it.
The food was incredible, the host so lovely and it was special to see Old Town by foot.
