Tour Details

Experience Mombasa from the water, sighting iconic buildings while learning about the history and culture. Sail on a handmade wooden dhow through the Mombasa Channel, enjoying sunset while snacking on cassava crisps and madafu. Learn and gain insights from the local boat captains.

A unique way to view Mombasa and learn about the fascinating town. A great way to bond as a group and have a fab time doing so. Sit back, relax and take in the moment.

This trip is available any time of the year. Would recommend evening sails to experience the spectacular sunset though.

T4P will discuss the best place for you to embark the dhow dependent on your location. Depending on the purpose of the dhow ride; learning, group bonding, celebration etc. T4P and Mombasa Dhow will plan the ideal trip for you!

  • Local EmploymentAll crew members are locals passionate about sailing. A great crew you're sure to have a good time with!
  • Supporting a DreamThe man who made this dhow with his own hands, always had a dream to have his own dhow however unfortunate circumstances kept hindering the dream. Finally with the dhow ready and available to visitors to showcase the beauty of Mombasa from water - he's a happy man!
  • Decreased Carbon FootprintWith a sail, there is no need to use the engine, if the wind direction is right. Therefore less fumes and negative impact to the environment.
  • EducationThe crew are super familiar with the area hence can give you a great amount of knowledge on Mombasa, the buildings, history and culture. All while relaxing as you sail!
