You’ll meet your guide at Fort Jesus, please note entrance into Fort Jesus is not included though you can choose to do this at an extra fee. Admire Fort Jesus from the outside and learn about the history.
We’ll drive through Old Town, learning about the narrow lanes, architecture, buildings, cultural norms and meeting some iconic people of Old Town. You’re welcome to visit shops during the experience and stop to hop off wherever you like.
Mombasa is known as the melting pot of Kenya, with a number of different cultures coming together. This is shown in the Old Town Market, with a variety of vendors selling a range of products. Next is the famous Tusks, snap a picture if you wish!
Visit the ultimate chill out spot with an authentic buzz in Mombasa. Walk through Mama Ngina, with the peaceful ocean on one side and busting street food vendors on the other.
Carry a copy of your passport at all times. A water bottle is advisable to avoid buying single use plastic and it can get pretty warm. Also good walking shoes is a good idea.
Of course, the guides have a lot of knowledge and know where is the best to shop. Ask away.
Morning is usually best to avoid hours where it become hot. We’d say 9am – Midday.
We had a fabulous city tour where we saw the city of Mombasa. Learnt a lot from our guide, Tyson, who was a blast! We had a fun afternoon were explored so much of the city! We could easily pay by card to pay for our booking. So glad we booked this. Would definitely recommend, thumbs up! 👍
Thank you for an incredible Mombasa City Tour! We had a great time and learnt so much. Tyson went out of his way to assist us. Dogo in Fort Jesus was a powerhouse of information! We were really impressed with Travel4Purpose! 👍👍👍
Travel4purpose’s Mombasa city tour exceeded expectations! Hillary and Tyson, our guides, were exceptional. Their knowledge and enthusiasm brought the city’s rich history and culture to life. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, every corner of Mombasa was explored with thoroughness and passion. Their attention to detail ensured we didn’t miss a thing. The tour seamlessly blended historical insights with local anecdotes, offering a comprehensive experience. Whether you’re a history buff or simply seeking adventure, this tour is a must. Thanks to Travel4purpose and their outstanding guides, Hillary and Tyson, for an unforgettable journey through Mombasa!
We requested a private city tour of Mombasa combined with the food tour. Travel4Purpose were very quick with the inquiry and were very flexible with arranging the pickup and return to our hotel. We had an enjoyable day exploring the old town of Mombasa in a tuk-tuk, visiting the markets and some shops. We especially enjoyed visiting Imani Collective, where local women make different items (soft toys, bags, home accessories, etc.). You can be very specific with the places you want to visit and they are happy to accommodate your requests. We also enjoyed different snacks and drinks bought from the local vendors.
Do take some cash with you if you want to buy something and also for tips to the local guides.
I booked 2 tours with Sham, the Mombasa city tour and the food tour. Both are incredibly knowledgeable and good fun. Tyson did the city tour and ensured an informative trip around the old town, spice market, Hindu temple and the famous city tusks. Then Qamilli took me on a food tour, showing me how sugar cane juice is made, a local energy and pick me up drink, with some amazing local falafel type nibbles, then on to the other side of Mombasa to have freshly made sweet potato, cassava chips with chilli and lime. a very tasty experience 🙂
