How?
Meet your English-speaking guide and tuk tuk near Fort Jesus and set off through the city. The experience is flexible and can be personalised to your pace and interests, with opportunities to stop, explore and interact along the way.
Meet your guide at Fort Jesus and get introduced to the experience. Take in the historic site from the outside and learn about its background before beginning your journey.
Hop into your tuk tuk and head into Old Town. Move through narrow streets filled with history, unique architecture and local life, with the freedom to stop, explore shops and take in the surroundings.
Continue to the local market, where you will experience the diversity of Mombasa through its people and products. Pass by the iconic Tusks and take a moment to capture the experience.
End your tour at Mama Ngina Waterfront, where the ocean meets the city. Walk along the coastline, take in the atmosphere and enjoy the lively mix of street vendors and local energy before heading off.
Carry a copy of your passport at all times. A water bottle is advisable to avoid buying single use plastic and it can get pretty warm. Also good walking shoes is a good idea.
Of course, the guides have a lot of knowledge and know where is the best to shop. Ask away.
This was an amazing experience being driven on a tuk tuk into Mombasa old town. The driver was brilliant and extremely friendly and knowledgeable when it came to talk of history about Arabic rule, Portuguese rule and colonial rule of Mombasa. Some of the historical tales were very touching and some heartbreaking…bit that was history after all

Dogo was a fantastic guide on our tour of Mombasa Old Town. His knowledge was not limited to the surrounding buildings – he was well informed about everything from China’s African foreign policy to the Danish royal family and its history. We saw the main sights of Old Town, but were also taken through narrow streets that we would never have seen without Dogo. Thank you so much!
My solo trip to Mombasa, as organized and planned by T4P was such an amazing experience! From suggesting a great hotel, to handling all logistics and communications for the trip, Sham made my special vacation that much more relaxed. She would check-in each day to make sure I was having a good time.The city tour and bombolulu workshop tour organized by T4P were just fantastic and really unique. I loved spending time with the people at the workshop and learning about the fascinating history of Mombasa during the city tour. All in all, I could not recommend T4P enough!!!

Our guide, Bernard, was fun and friendly, and made the experience really enjoyable! The tour begins with a scenic drive around the city, followed by a stroll through the charming narrow streets and vibrant market. The market is a must-visit, brimming with local flavors and crafts. Amazing experience, we did the Mombasa tour and the Dhow Mombasa cruise, both were great experiences. We were very well looked after and got to see all the amazing sites in Mombasa. The dhow included cassava chips and madafu! It was so relaxing and beautiful. Would highly recommend, very reasonably priced also. Travel for Purpose are the best for your time in Mombasa.

I booked 2 tours with Sham, the Mombasa city tour and the food tour. Both are incredibly knowledgeable and good fun. Tyson did the city tour and ensured an informative trip around the old town, spice market, Hindu temple and the famous city tusks. Then Qamilli took me on a food tour, showing me how sugar cane juice is made, a local energy and pick me up drink, with some amazing local falafel type nibbles, then on to the other side of Mombasa to have freshly made sweet potato, cassava chips with chilli and lime. a very tasty experience

We requested a private city tour of Mombasa combined with the food tour. Travel4Purpose were very quick with the inquiry and were very flexible with arranging the pickup and return to our hotel. We had an enjoyable day exploring the old town of Mombasa in a tuk-tuk, visiting the markets and some shops. We especially enjoyed visiting Imani Collective, where local women make different items (soft toys, bags, home accessories, etc.). You can be very specific with the places you want to visit and they are happy to accommodate your requests. We also enjoyed different snacks and drinks bought from the local vendors.
Do take some cash with you if you want to buy something and also for tips to the local guides.

T4P created an excellent and well-thought-out itinerary. I was on a short 8-day visit to Mombasa and yet it packed a visit to Mide Creek, a night on a dhow boat, Safari, and Mombasa food tour.
If I have to pick my favourite experience then it has to be either seeing bioluminescence from the “Musafir” dhow boat or the morning canoe with Sijo at Mide Creek.
T4P was very helpful and involved in every aspect of the trip including arranging our VISA and travel documents, Booking accommodation, and local commute.
I can’t recommend T4P enough and will be back soon to Mombasa to relive some of the moments.

Had an amazing Mombasa food tour with Qamili. She’s a super nice and friendly person. We’ve had several stops to experience the local food and not only was the food very delicious there were also some really nice views she showed me. The tour was organized late afternoon which I think was a very good decision considering the hot temperatures in Mombasa. The tour takes around 2 hours /2,5 hours so there’s no need to rush. I’ve enjoyed it so much and would definitely recommend it.
A great insight to Mombasa, we were shown many fascinating sites, interacted with locals and experienced the thriving culture. Would suggest anyone who wants to see Mombasa more authentically to try this tour out!
