We did the Kibera art tour via T4P and it was amazing! Shammi was quick to respond and get the tour set up and was always on hand to answer any questions. The tour itself was great and felt like an authentic way to see this part of Nairobi.
Saviour our tour guide was lovely and showed us around the murals, studios and Kibera. It was a really great way to spend couple hours.
I came to Nairobi not really knowing what to expect, and this tour completely reframed how I see the city. The art, the people, the snacks — honestly one of the most alive afternoons I’ve had travelling anywhere.
We almost skipped this because we weren’t sure what it actually was — and I’m so glad we didn’t. Walking through Kibera with artists who genuinely grew up there feels nothing like a typical tour. There’s no script, no performance — just real conversations with people who are deeply passionate about what they do and where they’re from. The murals are extraordinary, but it’s the stories behind them that stay with you. We bought a small piece from one of the studios and it now hangs in our living room as a reminder of that afternoon. Book it without overthinking it.
Didn’t realise I was going to leave feeling genuinely moved. The collective is doing something really special — the fact that the founder is 21 and already building something this meaningful says everything. Respect.
We did this with our two teenagers and it turned out to be the highlight of our whole Kenya trip — which is saying something given we also did a safari. Our kids were glued to every word the artists shared, and for the first time on the trip, they put their phones away without being asked. Seeing Kibera through the eyes of people who call it home, who are proud of it and actively working to shape its future through art, is genuinely perspective-shifting. The street food stops were a bonus hit. We left knowing that the money we spent actually meant something to real people — that’s not something you get from most tours.
