We went on the boat trip with T4P, it was the most relaxing journey! The crew went above and beyond, even climbing the mast to the get the bestgroup selfie! We also did a bracelet workshop with such lovely men by the Fort Jesus, they shared their stories and skills with us, we will be forever grateful for the insight they gave us on Mombasa! Thank you Sham and everyone!
We did two activities with T4P and both were lots of fun.The beaded bracelet workshop was very insightful and gave us a new appreciation for the work that goes into making the bracelets. We had a lot of fun together and learnt a lot.The Kongo river sunset dhow cruise was very relaxing and also educational as we got to learn about the different types of mangroves, birds, trees and much more as we enjoyed the views and the sunset.Highly recommend T4P for any activities you may be planning.
I saw these bracelets everywhere and I was finally able to make my own! The guides were fantastic and it was an immersive experience. Definitely one of our top highlights for our time in Kenya.
The Masai Sandals Workshop was an enlightening and hands-on experience.
Learning to craft these unique sandals from local artisans was not only fun but also a cultural immersion.
The instructors were patient and skilled, guiding us through the intricate weaving and beading process.
Honestly didn’t know what to expect walking in, but this ended up being one of my favourite parts of my whole Kenya trip. The artisan was so warm and patient — he didn’t just teach me how to make the bracelet, he told me what the colours actually mean, the stories behind the patterns. I wore mine the entire flight home and got three compliments on it. If you’re spending time in Mombasa and want something that actually feels real, do this.
Simple, human, and completely worth it. I spent maybe two hours with the bead maker and left with a bracelet, a new appreciation for a craft I knew nothing about, and a conversation I’ll remember for a long time. This is the kind of experience that travel should feel like.
We did this with our two kids (ages 9 and 12) and it was perfect for all of us. The artisan was incredibly welcoming and made sure everyone — including our youngest — felt included and supported the whole way through. What really stayed with us wasn’t just the bracelets we made, it was the conversation during the “Pause & Connect” part of the session. The craftsperson shared his stories and why this work matters to him, and our kids were genuinely listening. That doesn’t happen often. A beautiful way to spend a morning in Mombasa.
We booked this almost on a whim and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. You sit with the bead maker, learn the craft, and by the end you’ve made something with your own hands that actually means something. Ours aren’t perfect but that’s kind of the point — they’re ours. Sweet, affordable, and completely genuine.
