The sanctuary is off the beaten track and most tourists are unaware of this animal haven!
As you walk around the sanctuary, enjoy the company of the free animals in a responsible manner and learn about wildlife conservation in Africa.
Get your steps in and what a better way to do that than alongside Giraffes. Without any fencing, you are extremely close to the friendly giraffes, one of the very few places in the world where this is possible. You’ll literally be inches away from the giraffes, ostriches, antelopes and other amazing animals. A chance to also enjoy a picnic and some games right by your new pals.

On arrival you’ll be greeted by a specialised guide who will give you a briefing on the Sanctuary before proceeding on the nature walk. The walk takes you through a number of lakes, indigenous plants, rare beings – see what you can spot! (Your choice if you’d like the shorter or longer walk.)
What a better way to wind down than being surrounded by Giraffes?! Bring some snacks and some games as the incredible creatures roam around you. The only place in the world the giraffes freely roam within the public.
Explore the space a little bit more – can you spot the other animals (hint: ostrich!). Head back to the entrance with a memory you’ll hold for a lifetime!
Wearing comfortable shoes such as trainers is a good idea.
Bring a water bottle, sun protection and a device with a camera!
Nope, but we can certainly help organise this or give you taxi numbers! Uber is always an option too.
Not sure where to start with this review. Shammi at Travel4Purpose is just amazing and our experience was magical and exceeded our expectations. We stayed at Saltlick and did Safari along with 2 night stay in Mombasa where we did a giraffe experience. Everything about our trip was more than we could ever imagine. Also want to shout out 2 drivers Tyson and Henry who were also amazing. Both very knowledgeable, friendly and made the giraffe and safari experience an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.Henry has 20+ years safari experience and we saw things I only ever see on TV. Pictures online do not do Saltlick justice it’s just stunning place to stay.I have been planning our trip for over a year and I have been very picky but nothing was too much for Shammi even when dates were moved. She also helped book train tickets and provided a lot of guidance which made my whole booking experience easy. Majority of our communication was via WhatsApp and it was easy with very quick responses.I even got to meet Shammi in Nairobi to personally thank her and she’s just as nice in person as over the phone.I would recommend her to anyone who wants to book a trip to Kenya whether it be a safari or something else. Trust me you will not be disappointed! I would post all my pictures if I could but here are some highlights
Great experience to see some beautiful animals like giraffes and antelopes. Omar is a patient and skillful guide
We really enjoyed the Giraffe walk program. We paid through Travel4Purpose website. It was somewhat confusing at first. The lady at the office at the address that they gave us through WhatsApp told us to go up the dirt road and then someone should meet us. It was super hot and sounded like we’re just going into African savanna on our own. But then a guide met us midway. After that it was quite fun. It would be better if it was organized differently. There is a private plot of land where they have some wild animals that were raised along with humans, so they are not super skittish or aggressive. They have multiple giraffes, ostrich, turtles and antelopes that we saw. All walking alongside the visitors. You won’t be able to pet them (those are wild animals after all) but you will be really close to them.Make sure to put on some hiking shoes and bring some water though because your uber will probably not get you all the way there. So you’ll need to walk for about 10-20 min. But it’s all doable. Really cool idea.
Simply perfect. We went to Nguuni Sanctuary Reserve and it was fabulous! We left Mombasa with stars in our eyes and our heads full of memories. A huge thank you to Shammie, Omar, and Tyson for making it all possible. We had very little time, and everyone went above and beyond to meet our needs. We loved everything, from the initial contact to the visit itself. We can’t wait to come back and do more. Thank you so much for everything. Don’t hesitate to use Travel4Purpose; I highly recommend this agency. As a traveling mother with a child, I found them to be available, adaptable, and secure. It was wonderful.
We loved the flexibility of the arrangement. That we could take it in our speed. I arrived in a tuk tuk around 2:45pm and wanted to rest a bit before starting with the tour. The guide was very very kind and allowed us to take it in our speed. It was me and my 6 years old daughter. I recommend you bring plenty of drinks and food.
