Supporting small businesses that are dedicated to serving people authentically. You’ll provide sales and appreciation means the world to them

Meet your guide at Fort Jesus and get introduced to the experience before setting off to explore the city.
Begin in Old Town, walking through narrow streets filled with character, history, unique architecture and stories tucked into every corner. Continue to explore the area at your own pace, with the flexibility to stop, browse and take it all in.
Along the way, enjoy a series of local food stops. Taste a variety of snacks and drinks, hear the stories behind the vendors and experience the flavours that make Mombasa so unique. Visit a local coffee spot overlooking Mombasa Creek and take in the atmosphere with a cup of traditional Swahili coffee.
Continue through the market and past the iconic Tusks before ending at Mama Ngina Waterfront. Walk along the ocean, soak in the energy of the city and enjoy the final moments surrounded by street food, sea breeze and local life.
Carry a copy of your passport/ ID at all times. A water bottle is advisable to avoid buying single use plastic and it can get pretty warm. Wear comfortable walking shoes!
Carry some cash in Shillings or Mpesa on your phone and you can get as much extra as you’d like!
We suggest doing the tour between 3-6pm, as the sun is a bit cooler and more street food vendors are open.
Of course, the guides have a lot of knowledge and know where is the best to shop. Ask away.
I booked the Mombasa City and Street Food Tour. It was an incredible experience. The company are very professional and their correspondence was excellent, they were very flexible and helpful when organising. The tour itself was great fun, led by a charismatic guide – it was well organised and had a good balance of food and historical sites. An experience I will always cherish. If you are in Kenya, these are the guys to go to.
I booked the Mombasa Old Town and Food tour.Had an amazing time, got to learn about the history of Mombasa and taste some really yummy food. Tyson was an excellent host/ tour guide.
We had such a fun tour. Our guide Tyson catered well to the children’s needs and interests. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service from start to finish was superb and very professional. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
We did a city and street food tour in Mombasa city with Travel4Purpose. It was a really exciting and genuine experience. We visited several stops with local food and drinks and tried the tuktuk. The visit to the food market was one of the highlights. For anyone who wants to experience Mombasa city I highly recommend this tour with Travel4Purpose – they are very communicative and easy to be in contact with!
I loved Qamili’s services. She was very professional and down to earth. The experience was a tour of old town with Swahili street food sampling. Who wouldn’t enjoy that?! I highly recommend this tour. You get to see Mombasa in a different light which I loved. The snacks were also really good.
Great tour experience in Mombasa city, our tour guide Tyson made the experience even better with his jokes and good knowledge of the city.we did a combo of city and food tour with a tuk tuk, we went to a park next to mombasa tusks, to a temple, markets (spices and meat) food market and old city.Very unique experience and at each place we had somone along with our guide to explain everything. The street food was delicious and we got a good idea of the city and its history.
It was an enjoyable walk around Old town Mombasa. Qamili knows a lot about Mombasa and Kenya food traditions and the means and snacks were very nice. It is a great way to connect to people locally, and experience the local traditions.
Lovely experience and our tour guide “Qamili” was amazing! Definitely recommend this 💯
Taison was a real gent and took us to places that we would usually not see, really nice to experience the Old Town of Mombasa, liaise with the locals and try out traditional Swahili snacks.
Travel4purpose Mombasa history and food tours are amazing. They have knowledgable and friendly guides. Even as someone who has visited Mombasa before, it felt like I was learning so many new things and trying so many new (and extremely) delicious foods. Tyson, one of the guides, is one of the most friendly and positive people you can meet. Qamili, the food tour guide, was down to earth and really knew her food. Not only did she know what tasted good, she could explain it from a culinary perspective.
Yesterday was excellent. Tyson, our guide, was a delight and so informative. We loved every minute of Bombolulu cultural tour the food tour and the city tour. Thank you so much for all your help and best wishes for the future
My wife and I had the pleasure of taking the Old Town street food and walking tour with Travel4Purpose. My wife is originally from Mombasa and as such really wanted an authentic tour. The street food was exactly as she remembered from her childhood. This tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide was very knowledgeable, organised, informative and best of all funny. This was an amazing experience. Thank you Travel4Purpose!
